Irisophy Tarot  More

Irisophy offers a Tarot deck. For those of you who believe in the existence of Chance, this deck can be used to play games or to tell stories. For those who don't, it can be used to determine your Destiny.

A deck of Irisophy cards consists of sixty cards, divided into three Suits: Squares, Triangles and Circles. The suit is shown by the tessellation (tiling) of the card. The Circle tessellation is hex-centered, with adjacent circles overlapping to form a lens shape. We call those lenses Moons, while the hexagonal shapes in the centers of the circles are called Suns. Sometimes, Suns and Moons are considered separate suits.

Squares Triangles Circles

Each card also features two colors: one male and one female. Gray is considered a male color when coupled with a female color, and a (different) female color when coupled with a male. There are no cards with opposing colors like Black & White, Red & Cyan, Green & Magenta or Blue & Yellow, but every other combination occurs: a total of twenty color pairs. In Irisophic terms, the twenty cards in each suit consist of the eight Spirits (each coupled with Tephr) plus the twelve Couples.

Interpretation

When interpreting the cards, Squares represent the Positive aspect, Triangles represent the Negative, and Circles represent a balance, or Equilibrium. Within the balance of a Circle, Suns represent the Positive force, and Moon represent the Negative force.

For example, the White & Gray cards represent the spirit Leuc. The Square card represents her positive aspect, which is Hope & Faith. The Triangle card represents her negative aspect, which is Deception & Madness. The Circle card represents a balance between the two, which is Belief. Within the Circle, the Sun represents Zeal: too much Hope, Faith, Deception and Madness and the Moon represents Despair: too little Hope, Faith, Deception and Madness.

Here is a table listing all the cards:

Numerology

In addition, each Square or Triangle card bears a number from 0 to 9. Circle cards bear two such numbers, one for the Sun and one for the Moon. The four numbers in each color pair (Square, Triangle, Sun and Moon) always add up to 18, and so do the four numbers in each color in each suit, for example the four White Squares (one Gray, one Red, one Green and one Blue).

+ Square - Triangle × Sun ÷ Moon = Circle
+0-9×7÷2 +4-5×8÷1 +5-4×2÷7 +9-0×1÷8
+2-7×9÷0 +5-4×0÷9 +4-5×6÷3 +7-2×3÷6
